I am presenting to you one of my coachbuilding bodywork designs. It is a homage to the greatest prewar racing cars built by Bugatti. I designed this bodywork to fit an original period Bugatti chassis. I wanted to create a bodywork that would combine the roughness and sportiness with elegance of the legendary prewar Bugatti’s. I already did some prewar bodywork designs, including production tooling, for cars that were built on historical chassis. My experience consists of designing six different prewar bodywork designs of this kind that were produced in total number of 28 units (still in production). My tasks in these projects were designing/engineering:
- conceptual and final bodywork design that would fit on a original prewar chassis
- bodywork structural elements like mounts, skeleton (aluminium or wood), firewall, floors
- tooling for low volume production for bodywork elements, fenders, grill etc.
- many smaller details with documentation for production
- renderings for clients
