Jaguar Le Mans Special

This is a special project which was started in England in the 60s by a Jaguar racing division engineer. That engineer was Kenneth Heap, who was a member of the team that created the legendary Jaguara XJ220. Kenneth designed and built a rolling chassis for which the main part donor was a Jaguar E-Type, but in a mid-engined configuration. Unfortunately the reason why the project was scrapped in the past is unknown. The archives show that its development was stopped after the first test drives. My main task in this project was creating a proper bodywork design which this mysterious car never got. My idea was to create o homage of the period Jaguar designs like the E-Type Lightweight, D-Type or the XJ13. My responsibilities and tasks in this project are listed below:

  • creating a full bodywork design using the rolling chassis as basis
  • stiffness analysis and optimization of the frame which included creating a CAD model and FEM analysis done with the help of Invenco Engineering
  • verification and correction of the project packaging
  • verification and correction of the ergonomics
  • interior design which incorporates the details provided by the client (including fighter plane gauges and switches)
  • design and documentation of the bodywork bucks
